A rope with historical significance is missing. The rope is actually a 110 year old noose used in the first legal hanging in Letcher County, and the last legal hanging in the state of Kentucky. Officials with the county say they’re not sure when the noose went missing, but they would like it back. The rope was used to hang Floyd Frazier in 1910. He was convicted of murdering Ellen Flannery in 1907. Old newspaper clips called it the most inhuman tragedy in Letcher County history. County officials say they’re not looking to file any charges, they just want that piece of local history returned.
