The Boyd County Jailer has resigned from his post. The resignation of Joe Burchett comes just days after two inmates died and at least one other inmate was hospitalized from suspected drug overdoses. There is currently an investigation into how the inmates managed to get access to suspected fentanyl. Jailer-Elect Bill Hensley will take over the post until he’s officially sworn in on January 7th. The jail has been plagued with issues recently, including several recent escapes and a riot.
